The Use By Date on our Pasta Sauce can be found right underneath the lip of the lid on the outside glass of the jar. Sometimes it may be a bit hard to see because the sauce is filled to the top of the lid. The following is an example of how to interpret the code on the jar:
Example: 06/05/09
Interpretation: This sauce expires June 5, 2009.
When a jar of sauce is opened, the vacuum seal on the jar breaks, allowing air to enter the jar. Because Newman's Own's pasta sauce does not contain preservatives, the product is susceptible to spoilage upon exposure to air, even when it has been properly refrigerated. The actual length of time the product can be kept in the refrigerator after opening is dependent upon many factors, including the temperature of the refrigerator itself. Typically, the product will last 3 to 7 days when refrigerated. It is advisable that any leftover sauce be used as soon as possible or removed from the glass jar and frozen until used.
The Use by Date on our Salsa is located on the jar just below the lid and will appear in white ink.

Please note, all of our products that are certified Kosher will have the Circle U symbol on the packaging.
To ensure freshness and food safety, we recommend refrigerating Newman’s Own dressings once they are opened. Please note that the oil in the oil-based vinaigrette dressings may appear cloudy after being refrigerated. This is normal and there is nothing wrong with the product. Simply let the dressing come back up to room temperature and the cloudiness will disappear.
The Use by Date on our salad dressings is printed either in a black box on the neck label or on the back of the bottle itself between the back label and the neck label. The date will appear in this format: 15FEB20 with a letter after it.
Sometimes under refrigeration the oil will begin to solidify or congeal and/or appear cloudy. This is normal and not a quality issue. Simply let the dressing come back up to room temperature and the lumpy oil and/or cloudiness will disappear.
