Red Hot Ribs Rub with Barbecue Sauce

Fire up the grill, we’ve got ribs coming in hot! Give everyone at your backyard bbq something to talk about with this delicious from-scratch rub and homemade barbeque sauce.

Prep according to directions (will anyone guess your secret ingredient is Newman’s Own Salsa?), then cook using your preferred method.

Ingredients

  • 4 pounds baby back ribs
  • Red Hot Ribs Dry Rub:
  • Newman’s Own Paul’s All-Purpose Seasoning
  • 1/4 cup Newman’s Own Sea Salt Flakes
  • 2 Tbsp Newman’s Own Organic Garlic Powder
  • 1 Tbsp Newman’s Own Organic Onion Powder
  • 1 Tbsp Newman’s Own Organic Ground Cayenne Pepper
  • 2 tsp Newman’s Own Coarse Ground Black Pepper
  • 1 tsp Newman’s Own Organic Oregano Leaves
  • Newman’s Own Sea Salt Flakes

Barbecue Sauce:

  • 1 jar of Newman’s Own® Salsa
  • 1 can tomato sauce (16 oz.)
  • 1 Tbsp Cider Vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/8 tsp Newman’s Own Organic Ground Cayenne Pepper
  • Newman’s Own Coarse Ground Black Pepper, to taste
  • Newman’s Own Sea Salt Flakes, to taste

Directions

Remove ribs from package. Rinse and pat dry with paper towels.

Sift together ingredients for Dry Rub, and rub generously over surface of ribs. Refrigerate for an hour.

As ribs chill, mix ingredients for Barbecue Sauce in saucepan. Simmer over low heat for 15-20 minutes. Cool and set aside.

Grill ribs slowly on indirect heat on until done. Serve with Barbecue Sauce on side.
